Quick Poll ::: Your OS of choice

Mon Mar 27, 2006 11:16 PM EST
technology, apple, windows, poll, linux, firefox, os, osx, safari, ie

Whilst I'm sure NV have the statistics on this, I'm curious to find out what the OS of choice is from the readers of NV.

So the question is: Which OS do you use on your main PC (either at home or at work)? Conversely, which browser do you use for surfing the web

Note: This is a simple poll requiring a simple answer (MS, OSX, Linux, IE, Firefox etc). I'm not looking for this to become another thread of MS haters arguing why MS is evil and Linux is the be-all and end-all.

*** This Poll has now closed. ***
Please check out my other Poll's at horus.newsvine.com.

THE RESULTS

OS

3. Linux (All Flavours): 18 - 12%
2. Windows XP: 49 - 34%

1. Mac OSX 10.X: 79 - 54%

BROWSER

5. Other (Opera, Maxthon etc): 5 - 4%
4. Internet Explorer: 7 - 5%
3. Camino: 16 - 11%
2. Safari: 43 - 30%

1. Firefox (1.5.x & 2alpha): 72 - 50%

At home: WinXP Pro SP2 & firefox 1.5.1
At work: XP Pro SP1 & Slimbrowser (for Oracle), Firefox for everything else
When Ubuntu Dapper Drake arrives, I'll attempt to partition from the ground up a dual-boot XP/Ubuntu.

OS X 10.4.5 with Safari, though I also have Opera, Firefox, and Camino. I really like the way Safari displays RSS feeds, but not the fact that I can't import them into other browsers.

At school, for my programming class everything is XP, and my design stuff is all OS X.

I'm going to get my old Compaq up and running again for gaming.

At the moment XP SP2, Firefox 1.5.1 - home and office (same laptop acts as both)

        Soon to be changing to:
        Office - same as above
Home - OS X 10.4.5, and probably use firefox there also.

Work and Home: Mac OSX 10.4.5 with Firefox 1.5. Used to use a Compaq laptop but when I had to replace the HD and it wouldn't accept the XP code on the label on the bottom, got rid of it and now have a MacBook Pro! Love it!

Ubuntu Linux, Vector Linux, SUSE, Fedora, in that order. Knoppix for emergencies. Mac OS X if I woke up one day in a world withou penguins. Windows at work, often, with the old NT being the least evil.
